About Me
My name is Farhan Lakhany and I am a philosopher of mind, technology (with a focus on artificial intelligence) and cognitive science. In August 2023, I received my PhD from the University of Iowa and, in Fall 2026, I will be joining San José State University’s Philosophy Department as a tenure-track professor.
My main research interests lay at the intersection of the philosophy of mind, philosophy of artificial intelligence, philosophy of psychology and cognitive science with an emphasis on consciousness, mental representation and artificial intelligence. In addition, I have interests in the philosophy of science, metaphilosophy, epistemology, egalitarianism, neuroscience, psychology, evolutionary theory, biology and computer science.
